The ST-LLC Advantage

Based on its relationship with ASME, the ASME ST-LLC brings with it a proud heritage of integrity, engineering excellence, international prestige, and a strong commitment to advancing the art, science, and practice of mechanical engineering.

Diverse Technical Experts
ASME ST-LLC has access to ASME’s membership, technical divisions, and standards committees, which contain a diverse group of technical experts from industry.

Sponsorship of ASME ST-LLC projects, either through direct funding or participation on volunteer committees, benefits the industry at large by direct support of codes and standards that help guide industry activities and protect public safety.  Participation allows industry contributors to have input into the direction and priorities of codes and standards development.

Joint investment projects, with multiple sponsors, allow individual contributors to realize the large benefits of research with a comparatively small financial commitment.  Coordination of research work minimizes unnecessary duplication among separate organizations.  In this way industry maximizes the return while minimizing investment.

ASME ST-LLC project committees provide a forum for industry to participate and benefit from the peer review and consensus building necessary to validate research.  ASME ST-LLC projects will enable an efficient transition from emerging technology to commercialization by providing a more direct access to the work of the ASME standards committees.

ASME ST-LLC enables ASME to give its existing volunteer standards committees a dedicated resource, which will provide the support needed to conduct complex data review and technical work that are beyond the time capacities of volunteer standards writers.

The ASME ST-LLC maintains a close relationship with ASME, which is a 120,000-member not-for-profit organization focused on technical, educational and research issues.  ASME conducts one of the world's largest technical publishing operations, holds numerous technical conferences worldwide, and offers hundreds of professional development courses each year.  ASME publishes and accredits users of internationally recognized industrial and manufacturing codes and standards that enhance public welfare and safety.  ASME’s codes and standards organization maintains approximately 600 consensus standards with over 100 ASME standards committees formed from over 3,600 volunteer committee members.  ASME standards address pressure technology, nuclear, safety, standardization, and performance test codes.
