Initiate A Project

PTCS RESEARCH PROJECTS

To submit a project:

  1. Fill out of PTCS Submittal Form and attach documentation.
  2. E-mail Submittal Form and documentation to projects@asme.org

Important Dates:

  • August 31 - Deadline for project request for consideration for the following fiscal year (July 1-June 30)
  • November 1 - Evaluation for selection, consolidation and prioritization of all PTCS project requests for the upcoming fiscal year.
  • February 1 - Project requesters are notified of selected projects for the upcoming fiscal year.
  • March-June - RFP's will be solicited, Investigators selected and contracts issued.
  • July 1 - Project initiation


ST-LLC RESEARCH PROJECTS

To submit a project request to ASME ST-LLC 

The following information is needed to submit a project request:

  1. Proposed Project Title (optional):  propose a short, unique, descriptive project title.
  2. Scope Summary (required):  provide a concise summary of the project scope including characteristics of the product or service, deliverables and schedule.
  3. Business Need (required):  provide a justification of the business need for the project.  Include expected benefits, applicable codes and standards, potential industry end users, and urgency.  Document relationship of product/service to the business need or other stimulus giving rise to the potential project, including, but not limited to, specific customer requests, market demands, technological advances, legal/regulatory requirements, or social needs.  Identify the agencies involved in the technical field such as manufacturers, users, regulators, insurers, inspectors, trade organizations and research institutes.
  4. Funding (required):  provide a summary of which project elements require funding, an estimate of the project cost, potential external sources of funding, and suggested investigation or research organization.
  5. Standards Committee (optional):  if applicable to an ASME code or standard, list the applicable standards committee.  Indicate whether committee has endorsed the Project Initiation Request.  If the request is related to a standard maintained by organization other than ASME, indicate the applicable standard and organization.  Include knowledge of similar or related projects previously initiated by other committees.
  6. Initiator’s Contact Information (required):  provide contact information (name, telephone number, e-mail address) for follow-up of request.

Project Initiation Request Follow-up
Following web submittal, ASME ST-LLC will be automatically notified via e-mail of each new project initiation request.  Each request will be entered and serialized in a running database.  ASME ST-LLC will screen submitted requests for further disposition and action, including coordination with internal ASME groups and departments or external organizations as necessary.  Requestors will be informed of the change in status of each request.
